8 Winter Overhaul 2019 By Mobiusbelmont

The Winter Overhaul 2019 mod by mobiusbelmont does nearly all the heavy lifting in transforming Skyrim into a Winter Wonderland. It covers nearly all of the major regions in the land in a windswept winter blizzard, changes the weather to snowy and stormy, and even shortens the daylight hours.

Players will see that all the trees and fauna be covered by a layer of snow and nearly every town will resemble Winterhold. All in all, Winter Overhaul 2019 will create a nice base for a winter-themed festive playthrough, but players will need a few more mods for the full experience.

7 A Festive Christmas By Absinthe

For players looking to get into the proper festive holiday spirit comes a Christmas-themed, over-the-top, and slightly unimmersive mod titled A Festive Christmas by Absinthe. The mod retextures nearly all of the buildings in Skyrim’s world to fit the Christmas theme and adds various decorations in the towns and villages.

Players will spot other unique decorations in the world as well such as holiday-themed statues, snowmen, and fully decorated Christmas trees. The mod is, however, not lore-friendly and may not fit in strict lore-compliant playthroughs, but alternatives exist.

6 Holidays By Isoku

Skyrim has a dynamic world where everything runs in an ever-changing cycle. Players will observe the weather change after regular intervals, they will see NPCs go about their lives with various schedules, among other things that can be observed if they choose to notice them. However, even with their changes, the cycles become monotonous after a while. But with the Holidays by isoku mod, players can introduce some much-needed variety in the game.

The mod puts up holiday decorations in the various villages and towns according to lore events. Moreover, NPCs in these settlements become aware of these changes and will attend various events corresponding to each holiday. Players will also receive flyers via couriers and notices in inns and taverns telling them of any upcoming events.

5 Snowy Af Windhelm By Megaloblast

Windhelm is a major city found in the Northeast of Skyrim. The city serves as a seat of government for Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak who leads the rebellion against the Empire. The city is known to be the snowiest in Skyrim with almost every building and pathway covered by snow. However, for players looking to enjoy the festive holiday season, that snow may not be enough.

The Snowy AF Windhelm mod by Megaloblast rectifies that problem by adding even more snow to the landscape of the city. The download goes especially well with a weather mod that can be tweaked accordingly to create longer winters. Additionally, players will want to use a mod that adds holiday decorations to create a festive atmosphere.

4 Saturalia - Christmas In Skyrim SE By Merilia And Musicman247

Saturalia - Christmas In Skyrim SE By Merilia and Musicman247 is a large and comprehensive Christmas-themed mod that adds a plethora of content to the game. Players will observe decorations go up in different locations of Skyrim that are unique to that particular village or settlement. They will also find new festive food items in various interiors which can be made at the corresponding stations.

Moreover, the mod also adds two fully-voiced quests that have been made with the Christmas and holiday theme in mind. To get the full experience out of the mod, players will want to install a weather mod that is winter-focused to add some snow to the scenery.

3 Reindeer Of Skyrim By Thoth6222

Deers and Elks are some of the most commonly found animals in the wilds of Skyrim. They are shy, gentle creatures that run away as soon the players get close to them. For a winter-themed playthrough, they can work well but for players with an eye for details, they may not be enough.

Reindeer of Skyrim by Thoth6222 changes the meshes and textures of deers and elks to that of reindeers in order to fit a festive, winter-themed playthrough more appropriately. For maximum enjoyment, players will need to install some mods that cover the landscape under a layer of snow.

2 Frosty The Snowman Companion By Levionte

Frosty The Snowman Companion by Levionte adds a snowman follower to the game that players can take with them on adventures. Frosty features a fully animated head with moving eyes and mouth, and he wiggles as he moves to catch up to the players.

The mod uses textures from the vanilla game such as snow, branches, carrots, etc, so Frosty’s appearance may change in-game depending on which textures mods players have currently installed. Players can find Frosty wandering around Winterhold and they only need to talk to him to recruit him as a follower.

1 Santanism - A Christmas Adventure By Wormple12

Santanism - A Christmas Adventure by wormple12 adds a fully voiced, Christmas-themed questline set in a unique festive world space. Players will be tasked with summoning Santa Claus to this world space and will have to complete a ritual in order to do so. They will also get a follower with a unique appearance, voice, and spells along with a very lovable mount.

The mod is comical and not lore-friendly in any way; overall, it is a lighthearted quest mod to put players in the proper festive mood. To start the mod, players will need to get to Dawnstar and northeast past the museum until they find a campfire. They will find an NPC named Joshua with whom they’ll need to talk to in order to start the first quest of the mod.

Skyrim is available on PS5, PS4, PS3, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
