Launched in December of 1996, Battle.net is one of the oldest online game and social networking services owned and operated by Blizzard Entertainment.
Just days after the release of Battle.net, the company released one of their most successful games of all time, Diablo. The mobile version of the app was released recently in September of 2017.
However, despite the platform being mature, bugs such as WoW players unable to update games on Battle Net launcher on Mac have negatively affected the overall experience for some.
That being said, Battle.net users are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that the app is not launching and throws ‘A required DLL could not be found’ error message. It looks like the issue surfaced after a recent update to the launcher.
Many said they tried reinstalling the launcher but once it updated itself, the error message popped up once again. This is a really serious issue since millions of players are unable to play games that require the launcher.
Here are some reports from Battle.net users who say the app is not launching after the recent update.
While some said reinstalling the client did the trick for them until the launcher updated itself, many are wondering if they have to reinstall the Battle.net client every time they restart their machine.
Thankfully, Blizzard Customer Support has acknowledged the issue and said the developers are aware that the Battle Net client is not launching for some.
They also shared a workaround that requires users to manually delete some files and restart the Battle.net application.
We hope the developers soon find out the reason why Battle.net is crashing and release an update to the app that fixes the problem. If and when they do, we will be updating this space to let you know so stay tuned.
