Benjamin Rich, the star of the popular YouTube channel Bald and Bankrupt was detained in Kazakhstan. The travel blogger, was arrested with a female companion near one of Baikonur’s launch pads.
Benjamin is well-known for his travel blogs on his YouTube account Bald and Bankrupt, which has over 3.5 million subscribers.
Benjamin, who is 47 years old, has written a book about his travels and runs two YouTube channels. Since 2018, he has been filming videos for his YouTube channel in which he visits dangerous countries.
Authorities have taken Benjamin and his female companion, a Belarussian woman named Alina Tseliupa, into custody. Benjamin was reportedly detained in May 2022 at the Russian spaceport of Baikonur.
He was detained, according to Roscosmos, because he was “connected to the organisation of illegal actions.” The investigation is still ongoing, and officials in the United Kingdom have yet to comment on the arrest.
