Now that the superhero of Shazam: Fury of the Gods will be facing off with Avatar 2 at the box office, David F reacts to the movies’ latest release date change and jokes about facing Avatar 2. The DCEU film is the early anticipated sequel to 2019s Shazam, which introduced young hero Billy Batson to the franchise. While the first movie found Billy adjusting to his newfound power, Shazam 2 will see him and his foster sibling taking on new responsibilities as superheroes. Zachary Levi, as Billy’s superpowered form, leads the cast, in addition to the returning Shazam family members, Fury of the Gods will add Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren to the franchise.
The movie Shazam 2 like many other films got rescheduled multiple times due to the covid 19 pandemic. It was initially scheduled to premiere in April of this year but settle for June 2023. Sandberg can always be counted on to spend on news pertaining to his movies, and he reacted to Shazam 2’s release date change on social media. He confirmed the December premiere and playfully joke about how his film is now releasing opposite the long-awaited Avatar 2. ” Going up against Avatar 2. Poor James Cameron must be shaking in his boots right now….”
That’s right, Shazam 2 is getting released 6 months earlier and now comes this December! ⚡️ https://t.co/NjQyi07Bcp

It’s funny how Shazam 1 was a Christmas movie released in April and Shazam 2 is a summer movie getting released at Christmas. It’s the Shazam way.
As the sequel to the highest-grossing movie of all time, Avatar 2 is widely expected to be a major money-maker. In fact, when Aquaman 2 was the movie slated to go up against it, many believed Warner Bros. would push the Jason Momoa-starring film back. Aquaman 2 is now arriving months later, but Shazam 2 has taken its potentially unlucky place. Sandberg seems to be keeping a positive outlook on the situation, at least. Shazam 2 will be a very different movie from Avatar 2, so perhaps there’s no reason to be concerned. The holiday season could help both films find their audiences.
