Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the latest game in the franchise, recently announced a crossover event with previous title, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Players of either game now have access to a shared story arc between games on a new location known as the Isle of Skye. For Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players, this new story arc, “A Fated Encounter,” is now available to play.

This interesting addition to both games came with Title Update 1.4.1 to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but it can be a bit of a challenge to launch. For those players looking to start “A Fated Encounter” and get themselves on to the new location in the game, this guide is here to help.

How to Launch A Fated Encounter

Players need to have checked a few boxes before this mission becomes available to them in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Firstly, players will need to have completed the mission “A Wise Friend” and gotten Valka the Seer to stay at Ravensthorpe, the player’s settlement in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Secondly, interested players need to download the latest Title Update for the game, 1.4.1. This update is a data restructure for the game and requires a full reinstall of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla but results in a smaller overall file size. This update varies in size across platforms:

  • Xbox Series X|S: ~69 GB Xbox One: ~60 GB PlayStation 5: ~39 GB PlayStation 4: ~65 GB PC: ~77 GB

With both boxes checked, players will get a message on their screen detailing that a new mission is available. Similarly to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Siege of Paris DLC, players must return to Ravensthorpe in order to start this new story arc. Head towards the north part of the settlement as part of this mission called “A Distorted Dream.” Once there, players just need to talk to the new NPC near a red tent to launch the “A Fated Encounter” story arc.

How to Get to the Isle of Skye

The Isle of Skye is the new location in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and getting to it is relatively straightforward. Once players have spoken to Edyt, the new NPC at Ravensthorpe, they will be presented with the option to accept the mission to the Isle of Skye or delay their departure. Accepting the mission will start a loading screen that then transfers players over to their raiding vessel as it approaches the new location.

This starts the story arc known as “A Fated Encounter” and introduces players to the new area with which they will soon become familiar. Fortunately, the recommended level that players should be at in order to tackle the challenges of this new area is just 55. This is a low barrier to clear for most players, especially considering that the max level in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is 400.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
