Today is celebrated as International Women’s Day. But only wishing women on social media, writing posts dedicated to them just one day is enough? Respecting women one day and passing comments on them at the bus stand, railway station, roads basically everywhere.

Objectifying Women

As a country making women objectifying songs as a party anthem. Not paying attention to songs such as “ Munni badnaam huyi”, “Chikni Chameli”, “pinky” and dancing in weddings to these songs looks really fun but when you think about it. It is clearly indicating women as objects. Item songs are a huge part of entertainment in India. Although it is just a woman dancing in a sensuous way.The thing that needs not to be normalized but has been- “Eve-teasing” in Bollywood. We have often seen scenes like boys chasing girls on bikes, whistling at them, following them.

Girls Feel Offended

Initially, we see that girls have a problem with it but eventually they fall in love with their so-called “quite normal behavior” in movies. However in reality nothing like that happens, nor will happen. It only makes girls feel uncomfortable and unsafe. This women’s day I just have one piece of advice, If you can not respect women or don’t want to try not to Disrespect them.

Stop using terms like, “chick, pathaka, chamiya, maal the list is never-ending. The terms offend women and chick, women are not yellow. Instances like a boy asking his friend who’s that chick? This new Gen-Z has made everything normalized and it needs to be stopped.

Celebrate the women around you. Happy Women’s Day.
