Season 2 of Arcane is currently in production. The animated series, based on Riot Games’ iconic League of Legends (LoL) gaming franchise, was a hit with Netflix subscribers when it debuted in 2021. It should come as no surprise, then, that a sequel is on the way.

Still, it’ll be a long time before Arcane returns to our screens. We’ve previously been told that Arcane season 2 won’t be released until 2023 – and even then, it could be late. This is because a successful Netflix show like Arcane requires a lot of care and attention, as Riot revealed in their Bridging the Rift YouTube series, which details the lengthy development of Arcane’s first season.

While we wait for Season 2 to arrive, there is still plenty of Arcane news to keep you up to date. Fans believe they have discovered a leaked image of Arcane season 2, and there are three episodes of Arcane: Bridging the Rift to catch up on, which contain intriguing information about the show’s future post-season 2.

ARCANE SEASON 2 RELEASE DATE:

There is no set release date for Arcane Season 2. We do know it’s coming, though, because the show’s return was announced after the season 1 finale. It’s a good thing Arcane wasn’t affected by Netflix’s recent spate of animated project cancellations.

Ready yourselves, friends. Season 2 of Arcane is now in production.

The teaser above reveals nothing except that season 2 is in the works and that three seasons 1 character will return (more on this later). Nonetheless, we’re thrilled that Arcane is getting a sequel.

But when will it be back on Netflix? That’s difficult to say right now because we don’t know how far season 2 is along. But don’t expect it until 2023, according to Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent, who tweeted that the next installment in the series won’t be ready until 2023:

So yeah, we are working on #arcane season 2. The good news: you won’t have to wait for 6 years (the time it took us to making season 1)The bad news: it’s not coming in 2022 😢 https://t.co/IQoPyLnw1J

Arcane season 2 is expected to be released sometime next year. Given that Fortiche Productions has posted a job advertisement for new FX3D artists for season 2 (thank you, Reddit(opens in new tab)!) We’re hoping that by this point in January, production will be fully operational.

ARCANE SEASON 2 CAST

According to the teaser in our release date section, three female characters will return for Arcane season 2:

Vi is played by Hailee Steinfeld. Jinx is played by Ella Purnell. Caitlyn is played by Katie Leung. You may have heard the trio’s voices at various points in the season 2 announcement video. Given that all three were present in the room but watched on during the explosive season 1 finale, we know they’re safe and should return.

So, who else could be returning? Who survives the Piltover council chamber attack will determine this. As previously stated, we believe Mel and/or Cassandra may be victims of Jinx’s strike, as well as any of the other council members. However, we believe Jayce will survive. In our opinion, he has a larger role to play, and he will undoubtedly want to bring Jinx to justice for her crimes.

Ekko and Heimerdinger should also return. Because they were not involved in the council chamber attack, they should return, and we’ll see how their character arcs develop in Arcane’s second season. Viktor, who was in the council chamber at the time of Jinx’s attack, should also return.

Arcane season 2 will almost certainly introduce new characters. There were several deaths in Arcane’s first installment, including Silco, Vander, and Marcus, so there is a need for new supporting characters. We don’t know who will appear, but there are many LoL heroes and villains that Riot, Netflix, and Fortiche Productions can use from the game franchise’s universe for the animated series.

Riot Games has released a YouTube series titled Bridging the Rift that details the first season’s complicated development to keep fans entertained until Arcane season 2 arrives.

Three episodes have been released since the last update we gave this guide, and you can watch them all below:

Episode 1 – I Only Dream In Dangerous Situations (opens in new tab) Episode 2 – Persistence (Or When Your Best Still Isn’t Good Enough) (opens in new tab) Killstreaks Meets Keyframes in Episode 3 (opens in new tab) Bridging the Rift will have five installments in total, with only two more to go. Hopefully, the final installment will reveal when Arcane’s second season will premiere. However, as previously stated, we are willing to wait if no announcement is forthcoming.
