Some iOS 15 users are now reporting an issue where Apple Maps voice instructions are not working on CarPlay with Bluetooth.
As a result, those affected took to the Apple community forum and Reddit to raise a complaint about the same, and here are some reports for reference.
As apparent from the above reports and more, users find voice instructions functionality of Apple Maps missing in CarPlay when they use Bluetooth.
With regular music, there’s no issue at all. I’m able to both listen to music and have Siri tell me what to do. But when listening to podcasts? Not so much. Would love if anyone has any solutions to fixing this (Source)
Some users also say that Apple Maps is not speaking in any direction, instead, it’s just making beeping sound.
It was discovered that this was not the issue before iOS 15 and it appeared after they upgraded. It looks like Apple has removed this functionality with the latest OS upgrade.
A user also pointed out that the navigation and guidance settings also do not exist anymore. And if this is the case, it’s a bummer for those who most depend on voice instructions while travelling.
On the brighter side, there is a workaround for this issue that worked for some. Hence, you can also try the same and see if it works.
However, unfortunately, Apple has not yet acknowledged this issue if it’s actually a glitch or a change in the new OS. We hope that this gets sorted out soon.
That said, we will keep you updated with the latest information as and when anything new comes to our notice.
