April Fools’ Day is nearing, which means there will be plenty of false game announcements and more. It happens every year and is a solid reminder to not trust everything on the internet. Still, for Apex Legends, April Fools’ Day is a pretty big deal.
Indeed, several holidays are important to Apex Legends. The Holoday Bash is a Christmastime celebration that is welcomed year after year, especially with the return of the Winter Express LTM. Not all holidays are treated similarly, though, but April Fools’ Day is one that has recurring themes. The problem here is that, the common recurring theme won’t work as well this year and, in fact, Apex Legends should look to expand its April Fools’ Day celebrations.
Apex Legends + April Fools’ Day
For the past couple of years, Apex Legends has thrown in a golden Mozambique as an April Fools’ Joke. It’s funny given how much of a meme the weapon is, but it’s also pretty decent nowadays. Having more shots than before and tossing on the Hammerpoints makes it a deadly enough weapon to not be a joke. That won’t work this year, and some fans have instead called for Apex Legends scopes to go on any weapon for the holiday. Using a Wingman with a 4-8x sniper scope is the sheer chaos fans want out of the event.
But why stop there? April Fools’ Day and its legacy should be celebrated in-game with a full, proper chaotic LTM. Whereas Winter Express introduces a interesting 3v3v3, a proper April Fools’ Day event could see anything go: not just sniper scopes on a Wingman, but Hammerpoints on a Flatline, bring back older hop-ups like Disruptor rounds and throw them on a L-Star, and more. That’s not to say any and every combination could go, but it is just for chaotic fun.
More so than that, perhaps ultimates could be random—Gibraltar pulling out Rampart’s big machine gun, Lifeline using Octane’s jump pad, and more. It would make no sense, but that would embrace the spirit of the holiday. Perhaps the ring could even behave erratically, really making chaos a full joke for the holiday.
Of course, this isn’t likely to happen, but it’s a nice thought. Developer Respawn has been looking into more LTMs, as evidenced by the recent Control game mode (which is returning to Apex Legends eventually), and this sort of chaotic fun would add a nice twist to the game—even if it’s for just one day.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. Mobile is available in some areas; PS5 and Xbox Series X enhancements are in development.
