One of the most talked-about possible new characters for Apex Legends has long been Ash. A Simulacrum Pilot and Antagonist of Titanfall 2, many believed that Ash would be playable this season in Apex Legends, as Respawn confirmed that Season 9 would be a Titanfall-heavy season leading up to its release. However, Ash is not playable in the game. But a new leak shows evidence that she could soon be.
The newest Legend to join the Apex games is Valkyrie. Respawn made the announcement with a cinematic trailer showcasing Valkyrie’s journey after the loss of her father Viper, who was a Pilot in Titanfall 2. This, along with many other new pieces of content, is what helped the new season of Apex Legends draw a link to Titanfall. Ash actually has a place in Season 9 as well, but not as a playable character. However, an image that is now floating around online may show that Ash will soon have a chance to compete in the Apex games herself.
Reddit user u/Spandex_Hero18629 recently uploaded an image on r/ApexUncovered that is very intriguing. Apparently, the user found a picture on Twitter of Ash in-game, along with her abilities. According to the Reddit user, the original tweet was quickly deleted.
In the image, Ash’s tactical ability appears to be some sort of dash. This could be very helpful to get away from an explosive, outmaneuvering an opponent in a gunfight, etc. Meanwhile, the ultimate is too hard to make out based on the image alone. There have been plenty of guesses as to what Ash’s abilities will be in Apex Legends, and this new image just adds more fuel to that imagination fire.
The post itself should be taken with a grain of salt. It seems a bit doubtful that a picture would be leaked online that is so blurry and nondescriptive. The picture itself does not show Ash in Apex Legends action, which seems suspicious. It would be rather easy for someone with some skills to fake a picture of simple ability images–which is what this picture is–and nothing else. Whereas it would be much harder to fake a picture of Ash aiming down the barrel of a G7 in action, for example, and that is not what this picture is. Still, there is a chance the picture is real. Leaks like this can go live because someone wanted to upload it without a paper trail of any sort.
Ash currently has a role in the games as the announcer for Arenas in Apex Legends. The new 3v3 mode is a total shift in the game. While the battle royale is still intact, where players start out with nothing and build up their inventory by exploring, looting, and taking down enemies, Arenas is something else completely. Players take down opponents with a single life each round and can “buy” weapons, gear, and more in between each round. Skill and tactics are extremely important, and Ash is there to give the play-by-play. It could be that she eventually will be taking part in the action.
