Announcement for the Marvel Disney+ Series: Secret Invasion, Ironheart, Armor Wars, I Am Groot

With Secret Invasion, Ironheart, and Armor Wars, Marvel Studios has unveiled three new Disney+ series. Also, James Gunn will direct a Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special to be launched on Disney+ on Holiday 2022. And we’re still going to be having I Am Groot, a compilation of shorts featuring Baby Groot. We also have WandaVision (January 15, 2021), The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (March 19, 2021 premiere), Loki (May 2021 release), Marvel’s What If…? (Summer 2021), and Ms. Marvel (late 2021). Lastly, for Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, and She-Hulk, Marvel has introduced new cast members. These will include all streams on Disney+ Hotstar as well.

Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, who first met in Captain Marvel, will appear in Secret Invasion. A crossover event will be the Disney+ Marvel series featuring a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Talos is a Skrull and dressed as Nick Fury, while the actual Nick Fury was on a Skrull spacecraft, as shown in a post-credit scene that set up the Secret Invasion. Ironheart will concentrate on brilliant designer Riri Williams, the most sophisticated armor suit after Iron Man, played by Dominique Thorne (If Beale Street Could Talk). Is it likely that Marvel will set up Riri Williams to take over from Iron Man in the MCU? As James Rhodes / War Machine, Armor Wars will bring back Don Cheadle, as he must save the day after Tony Stark’s software falls into the wrong hands, something Stark feared all along. The cast includes Ms. Marvel, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. Iman Vellani was previously confirmed as Jersey City’s Ms. Marvel / Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American. She’s a huge superhero fan, and so she becomes one. Most of the cast revelations from earlier this month have been confirmed by Hawkeye, including Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, and newcomer Alaqua Cox. Brian d’Arcy James is the only recent announcement. As Kate Bishop, Hailee Steinfeld is now also confirmed, along with Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. Hawkeye, which also arrives at the end of 2021, is helmed by Rhys Thomas and the directing pair Bert and Bertie. With the inclusion of Tim Roth’s Abomination, who was part of The Incredible Hulk, the She-Hulk cast is growing. She-Hulk is directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia, with Jessica Gao as the head editor. Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will, of course, be a part of the show as well. She-Hulk / Jennifer Walters was earlier announced as Tatiana Maslany. She is a prosecutor who specializes in court cases that are superhuman-oriented.
