In 2014, Google released Android TV, which is the successor to the much dreaded Google TV. Android TV greatly improved upon its predecessor and lets users access its vast collection of apps from the Play Store.
The Mountain View-based company even ported Google Assistant from Android over to Android TV. It was a big deal since users no longer needed to press buttons but instead can comfortably talk to their TV from the couch.
That being said, some Android TV users are now reporting that their TV randomly says Sorry something went wrong, try again in a few seconds. Many say that they were freaked out the TV read the message at full volume in the middle of the night.
Users said they tried unplugging all smart devices one by one but not the TV since they did not expect it to turn on and say the message out loud. It looks like those affected had kept their Android TV in sleep mode at all times.
It looks like the issue is related to Google Assistant and probably a bug on Google’s end since it is prevalent on different makes and models of Android TVs. If you want your Android TV to stop talking automatically, the only way is to either turn it off when not in use or disable Google Assistant.
With Google yet to acknowledge the issue, it looks like the only way to stop your Android TV from screaming “Sorry something went wrong, try again in a few seconds” is to disable Google Assistant.
