Developed by Google, Android Auto is an application that is designed to bring your phone’s functionalities to your car’s display. It was revealed back in 2014 at the Google I/O.

Google developed the application so that Android users do not get distracted while driving. Some of the basic functionalities offered by Android Auto include Music Control, Google Maps, Phone, Web browsing, and SMS.

In case you are unaware, Android Auto is part of the Open Automotive Alliance with NVIDIA as the tech supplier.

The app supports multiple car models from more than 28 car manufacturers and is available in 44 countries, which makes it susceptible to bugs and issues.

Having said that, the app has so many bugs that we have a dedicated Android Auto bug tracker.

Now Android Auto users are reporting another issue where they are constantly getting “Google Maps location needs attention” notification even though they are not using navigation.

This is really disappointing since the whole point of Android Auto is to not let users get distracted when driving. Many say that the issue popped up a few months ago and the location notification flashes every other second.

Fortunately, Google acknowledged the issue and said that they have escalated the issue for further investigation.

We hope Google releases a fix for the annoying Google Maps location notification popup issue since it defeats the entire purpose of Android Auto.

Once Google releases a hotfix, we will update this article to reflect the same so make sure you keep checking this space for further updates.
